Even though we are in Ireland for 4 months, we hadn't visited one of the most famous places in the country: the Cliffs of Moher. We decided to left this tour for July, when one of our best friends would spend a week here, believing that it would be even more special to see this natural landscape when we were together (and I can say we were totally rigth about it!). Cross Ireland from east to west last an intire afternoon, and we ended the day looking at those unbelievable cliffs, what totally worth the long ride. If you're also coming to Ireland and want to see this beautiful place we have some tips for you that can be really usefull. Check it out:

A bit more about the Cliffs of Moher and your story
The Cliffs of Moher are one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world and are located at the west side of Ireland. The rock formation have an extend of eight kilometers along the Atlantic Ocean, and it's maximum height reaches 214 meters. From the top you can see the meeting of the emerald sea with the cliffs, long Irish fields with flowers and green grass, and a real spectacle of the birds that live among the rocks. In addition to being one of the most beautiful visuals in Ireland, the Cliffs also play an important role in the natural life of that region, serving as a shelter for thousands of species of seabirds that build their nests right there, overlooking that vastness.
How to go from Dublin to the Cliffs of Moher
This was also one of the reasons we put off our visit to the cliffs: to go there, the only way is by renting a car or taking a daytour. Although the tour is the most practical and cheap option (from what we search, the tour leaves in the morning and returns in the evening, costing about 45 euros per person), we didn't want to be attached in a tour timing and prefered to rent a car and make our own itinerary. The part of renting the car turned out to being more complicated than we thought, but in the end everything worked out, and we left Dublin around 12:30.

It tooks almost four hours to get into the Cliffs, and we spent most of the time on a motorway, and then took a narrow road through the Irish countryside (just like we see in the movies). For us the choice of renting a car was the best one, and to minimize the costs we made some sandwiches at home to eat on the way. Even though it was a long trip, we enjoyed these hours to get the talk updated, listen to good songs and enjoy the beautiful ireland scenery.

How much it costs to see the Cliffs of Moher?
The cliffs are inside an enclosed park and thus the entrance is paid, costing 10 euros per person. Inside the park you are free to walk above the cliffs and waste time looking at all that visual. The opening hours are 8:00 am to 9:00pm during the summer (May to August), 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m. during the winter (November to February) and 9:00 to 7:00pm in the months of March, April and October.
It was almost five in the afternoon when we got to the park, and as it is summer, we had until nine to get to know the whole place. The time was enough but we could have enjoyed a couple more hours there, anyway we still managed to walk almost to the end of the trek and then to the other side, where is the O'Briens Tower, a building dating from 1835 that leaves the whole scene even more surreal.

If you ever come to Ireland you must surely include the Cliffs in your travel script, and if you still have any questions just ask us in the comments or at our Instagram @we3pin
